Day 1 International outbound flight
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Cuzco.
Day 2 Cuzco
On arrival in Cuzco, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city and acclimatising to the altitude.
Day 3 Cuzco
Enjoy a guided tour of the highlights of Cuzco and the surrounding Inca ruins.
Day 4 Sacred Valley
Full day trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will visit the impressive ruins at Písac and Ollantaytambo as well as a colourful market. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.
Day 5 Machu Picchu
Take the train to Machu Picchu, where you will have a guided tour of the ancient Inca citadel.
Day 6 Cuzco
Free day to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace. In the afternoon return to Cuzco by train.
Day 7 Quito
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Quito via Lima. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to your hotel.
Day 8 Quito
Enjoy a guided tour of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 9 The Galapagos Islands
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to the Galapagos Islands. Here you will be met by a representative of your boat who will take you to your awaiting vessel. Enjoy afternoon excursions in the Galapagos.
Day 10 The Galapagos Islands
Today you'll explore Santiago (James) Island, starting with Buccaneer's Cove, a hiding place for passing pirates and sailors in the 18th and 19th centuries. The cliffs here are clustered with seabirds. In the afternoon, you'll take a moderate guided walk, keeping a lookout for marine iguanas and sea lion colonies.
Day 11 The Galapagos Islands
Today your first stop is at Rábida (Jervis) Island, known for its iron-rich reddish beaches. Here you can snorkel, take short strolls along the beach, and visit a brackish lagoon where flamingos gather. Look out for marine iguanas, mockingbirds and Darwin's finches. In the afternoon you'll hike to the summit of Bartolomé Island before having a chance to take a glass-bottomed boat trip. Galapagos penguins are often seen here.
Day 12 The Galapagos Islands
A day in Genovesa, a remote northerly island swarming with birds such as storm petrels, frigate birds and Nazca boobies. You'll climb to the top of the cliffs via the Prince Phillip Steps and take a short guided walk. In the afternoon, there's an optional walk over slightly more demanding terrain.
Day 13 International return flight
Excursions in the Galapagos Islands followed by disembarkation and flight back to the Ecuadorian mainland.
Day 14 International return flight
Arrive home today to complete your journey.
