South Africa offers really great value safaris where you can see the Big Five without compromising on the quality. The places you can do a safari here are Kruger, KwaZulu-Natal, the malaria-free Eastern Cape and Madikwe. We highly recommend Kruger National Park as it provides a truly special and wonderful safari experience. Watch vast herds as they congregate around a waterhole, packs of South African wild dog, each with a unique coat, and the prides of lions, resting in the shade as the cubs play fight in the long grass. The Kruger is a wilderness just waiting to be explored.

Kenya is known as the ‘safari capital of the world’ and so what better way to take a walk on the wild side than here? From August to October, there is an event that cannot be missed and that is the Great Migration. It is where millions of wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Maasai Mara in Kenya. The natural landscape is real beauty adding to the fantastic atmosphere here. For an additional wildlife encounter in Kenya we cannot help but recommend a stay in the famous Giraffe Manor, which is on the edge of the Nairobi National Park. After your wild adventure, it is time to head to country’s white sand beaches to unwind.

Tanzania is home to well known Serengeti National Park. As in Kenya, the Great Migration of millions of wildebeest takes place each year between Serengeti and Maasai Mara. It truly is a magnificent sight. The Wildebeest tend to migrate from Kenya to Tanzania between October and July. A safari in the Serengeti is perfect for first-time safari goers as you are sure not to miss out on seeing the wildlife. Lions are a year-round certainty and it is a hot spot for cheetahs, which are notoriously difficult to see. For a beach stay afterwards, you need to go to either Zanzibar or the Seychelles. Both will finish your dream honeymoon off perfectly.

Botswana isn’t the first place that comes to mind when thinking of safaris but that is one reason why we love it here at Suitcase Travel and makes a magnificent honeymoon. Its quieter national parks provide a more personal experience. It gives you the chance to really tailor-make your safari honeymoon to how you want it. If you love elephants, then you will love it here as you will see plenty of herds of these fascinating creatures. Some safaris allow you to fly into them rather than simply driving to them, which is amazing as you get the best views. A visit to Victoria Falls is a must do in Botswana also.

Uganda is famous for gorillas and other primates. Bwindi National Park a thick jungle where you will find the mountain gorillas. Kibale Forest is where you go to see the country’s famous chimpanzee’s also. You can still take part in a more traditional style safari in Uganda by visiting Murchison Falls National Park. This is where the Nile River explodes dramatically through a narrow 6 metre gorge, creating the magnificent Murchison Falls. On your way to here, stop en route for a guided walk at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. You take a game drive along the banks of the Nile, for resident wildlife including lions, buffalo, elephant, Rothschild giraffe and more. The game viewing continues on a boat cruise to the bottom of the Falls.
