Time to Look Up

Yellowknife, where the fun begins. Sitting on the shores of Great Slave Lake, Yellowknife is one of the closest cities in Canada to the North Pole. The flat landscape and low levels of rainfall make for superb conditions to view the skies.

You will be met at Yellowknife Airport and taken to your hotel by a representative of Aurora Village, where your Winter Clothing Package will be waiting for you at reception. Your guide will then pick you up in the evening for your first Aurora viewing at the Teepee Village.

Time for Adventure

You get the chance to enjoy a leisurely morning before being picked up by your guide for a dog sledding excursion. Then after lunch it’s time to strap on your snowshoes for a guided walk along the local trails, where you’ll learn about the history of the region and the indigenous people.

After an afternoon of fun on a giant ice slide and roasting marshmallows, you’ll enjoy a second evening of The Northern Lights.

The Gold Rush

A second day of fun lies ahead when you’ll be picked up at your hotel for a tour of Yellowknife. Founded in 1934, Yellowknife has its origins in gold mining. As you tour the city, your guide will peel back the history from its early beginnings when the streets were literally said to be “paved with gold” to its deeply rooted Aboriginal culture. After a scenic drive through the Old Town and the frozen Ice Road, it’s time to look for the infamous Northern Lights once again.

A Fond Farewell

We bid you a fond farewell as your trip comes to an end. You will be met at your hotel and transferred to Yellowknife airport for your return flight home.
