Aurora Klondike Experience

A stunning light show dancing effortlessly across the skies, leaving exotic dream-like patterns in bursts of colour in its wake, this magical display never fails to impress. A natural phenomenon that occurs when electrically charged particles from the sun collide with gases entering our atmosphere, the Northern Lights happen year-round. However, they can only be seen in winter, when the skies are less bright.

Canada’s northern latitude and minimal light pollution make it an ideal location for viewing the Northern Lights. Truly spectacular, one of the best places to see them is in the wilderness of northern Canada.

If the Northern Lights are on your bucket list, then our Aurora Klondike experience is for you. As bright winter sun gives way to dark starry skies, the stage is set for a spellbinding show. And it’s an experience that will last a lifetime.

Time for Adventure

Your amazing adventure starts in Whitehorse. The capital (and only) city of Yukon, it is the largest city in northern Canada. Gold seekers are said to have thought that the Miles Canyon’s wild rapids resembled the manes of charging white horses and so it got its name, Whitehorse.

Moving from Whitehorse to Dawson City, your experience also includes several exciting guided tours. Packed with adventure, it’s a wonderland just waiting to be discovered. But of course, the highlight of your adventure will be the show stopping Northern Lights. During your stay you will have the opportunity to take part in:

  • A City and Goldfields tour
  • A visit to Dawson City museum
  • A Dawson City historic walking tour
  • Guided Northern Lights viewing tour

Day 1: Day 1 - Whitehorse

Frontier City

Your fun starts in Whitehorse. Once you’ve landed in Whitehorse, a complimentary shuttle bus will take you to your hotel and your base for the next two days. Your Winter Clothing Package will be waiting for you at reception. And then once you’ve checked in, you have the rest of the day to yourself to explore this frontier city.

Your Northern Tales Travel Services guide will pick you up in the evening for your first Northern Lights excursion.

Day 2: Day 2 - Whitehorse

Takhini Hot Pools

A free day to enjoy more of Whitehorse before another evening adventure hunting for the Northern Lights. There is plenty to see and do in the City. For an extra special experience why not relax in the soothing waters of the Takhini Hot Pools. The springs pools are 36° and 42° Celsius. In operation for over 100 years, the water is natural and rich in minerals.

Day 3: Days 3-4 - Whitehorse - Dawson City

A Vibrant Community

We leave Whitehorse to take a morning flight to Dawson City, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Your accommodation for the next two days, several guided tours including a Dawson City historic walking tour and visit to the city museum are included as part of the experience. A Northern Lights viewing tour is also in the itinerary.

Day 4: Day 5 - Whitehorse

After breakfast you get to enjoy a leisurely morning in Dawson City, before you make your way to the airport for the midday flight back to Whitehorse.
